“I don’t care. All I can say is I think he’s doing a good job as president.” ~ Utah Senator Orrin Hatch
One of the oldest and longest serving Senators in Congress, Utah Senator Orrin Hatch (GOP), said he doesn’t care what Trump does, and there is no amount of evidence that will convince him the Grand Wizard of the GOP Klu Klux Klan (Trump) did anything to violate any type of law, or even treason for that matter
To me, that’s treasonous.
And while he backtracked a day or two later, his truth was already disclosed. How can you take an oath to uphold the Constitution, and then basically tell U.S. citizens and taxpayers rules are for us, not them?
It’s the most disheartening thing to see. How can America ever convince people of color that our systems are fair and all of our leaders govern fairly? The one thing Donald Trump has done is exposed the true hearts and intentions of lots of men and women. The love of their party, privilege, and race trumps America.
I have no faith in justice, in America, or our institutions. Our leaders work for themselves and on behalf of the rich. Even some of the GOP representatives that I’ve worked with over the years have lost their minds for Trump.
They have no issue rushing to judgment if the accused in Brown, Arab, of Spanish descent, of African descent, Muslim, from a poor Brown nation, or simply born on the wrong side of the tracks in the Black side of town.
But when the accused is White, Whiteness tends to act like God of the Bible they love so, being slow to anger, abounding in love and forgiving sin and rebellion.
Whiteness has unflinching support and unmatched patience for White criminals, and crimes committed by White men, not wanting anyone to perish in prison or experience the humiliation of paying for their sins. Whiteness gives White men time to repent (or not). The point is they get time.
Time to remake their lives, second chances, and new leases on life, time and time again.
We also know Black and Brown people aren’t afforded these luxuries. They are killed for trying to show their break up a fight at work. Seven-year-old Brown little girls aren’t, they must die because their father broke the law simply crossing an imaginary border at the hands of White men. Black women are killed in jail awaiting a hearing for bail for asking a traffic stop that should have resulted in a ticket only. Arab, Sikh, and Muslim can’t pray before a flight or speak in their native tongues so not to terrorize the real terrorist…Whiteness.
Whiteness and justice go together like a hand in a glove. If you’re not White, there is no justice, there’s just us!
